Sept. 29, 1929 (1 sheet bi-fold) Strangely, this timetable was issued just 21 days after the previous issue. The reason for this come from Gordon Davids: "What happened then was that the summer trains came off right after Labor Day weekend, but the time change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time didn't occur until the end of September. The railroad was publishing both public and employee time tables in standard time. That continued past the time of purchase of the Ulster & Delaware by New York Central in 1932, until the middle 1950's, when New York Central and several other railroads began issuing public timetables showing the local time (standard or daylight saving) at each station. But, they generally adjusted the train schedules by one hour at the time change, so the times shown as standard time in the summer were one hour ahead of the times for the same service during the winter. Employe timetables continued to be published in standard time only until the Uniform Time Act of 1966, when they officially adopted daylight saving time for train operations while it is in effect. So, with the return to standard time, both the public and employes' timetables were adjusted by one hour. That was also a convenient time to make general adjustments to train schedules, but they had made so many changes after Labor Day that they issued the "interim" public timetable that was effective for 21 days. There was probably a new employe's timetable for that 21-day period, but it is possible that the summer trains just carried notes on the first and last trip that would have covered that contingency with continuation of the summer time table. Then, a few days later, the market went down the tubes and..."
