November 1976 - 8P1 and 8P2, with diamond in extreme foreground.
Note black cushions suspended from pier behind locomotive. Joe Roborecky recalls that BEDT track workers removed
the rails, ties and fill from both the North 6th Street and the North 9th Street Piers for reconditioning the pier structure.
A swimming pool company was contracted to spray the inside and outside of the concrete portions of the pier.
Also at this time, tubular rubber bumpers were installed along the pier edges. These were draped in sections and secured
by chains to the pier. Then BEDT track crews would replace the fill material and relay the ties and track.
