As of January 2011, I have encountered three types of BEDT matchbooks.
One book (Variety 3) resides in the collection of John LaBarre, and I own three matchbooks of the two varieties below:
two Variety 1 (older): 1 of which is unused and one used with 1 matchstick remaining (book disassembled for scanning),
and one Variety 2 (newer).

(older: pre-1941)

Note: "Market Terminal Wallabout Brooklyn, NY" is listed (just about the matchheads). No doubt this variety was made before the 1941 Navy Yard expansion; therefore is the older of the two types represented. Also, all rules and lines are black ink. .
Variety 2 (younger: post-1941) LION MATCH Co. [punchhole] INC. NY MADE IN USA

Note: "Market Terminal Wallabout Brooklyn, NY" has been replaced with "NAVY YARD (BEDT)" (just about the matchheads). No doubt this variety was made after the 1941 Navy Yard expansion; therefore is the younger of the two types represented. Also BROOKLYN EASTERN DISTRICT TERMINAL on the front outside cover has been changed to "BROOKLYN E. D. TERMINAL" Rules and lines are yellow ink.
